Deep Listening Workshop

The shape of our society is changing, our interaction with the world continues to shape shift. As a result, it's so easy to become isolated from those around us and from ourselves. Today the pressures of living in a society driven by our insatiable appetite for more have brought about dire consequences for our planet. Our society often encourages selfishness and competition, it creates unwritten rules surrounding success and it ultimately paints an untrue picture of what it means to be 'ourselves'. However, humanity remains compassionate, people still help each other and still love. We don’t have to be driven by our doubt, we don't have to look back and blame, we don't need to look forward and be fearful, we can choose to listen, to wake up to the present moment and acknowledge our place in the universe, and in nature. Taoist meditation is a wonderful way of making this connection with the world, with others and most importantly with ourselves.

There are many Taoist meditation forms but I think it’s best to begin simply with Deep Listening, a simple practice in which we draw our attention away from the ego, and wake up our awareness of the present - learning to respond to each situation as it comes. 

Influenced by contemporary spiritual teachers Sean de Warren, Alan Watts and Eckhart Tolle, Robert has practised Taiji and Taoist Meditation for 20 years. He will be sharing what he has learnt here at Arco Barco over a series of workshops.
